Mangalore beauty Aishwarya Rai won the Miss India and Miss World pageants of 1994. The international event was held in Sun City, South Africa.
The year 2000 saw a Miss India World again with Priyanka Chopra winning the crown. Chopra who did not receive a very warm welcome in Bollywood initially has now left her mark in Hollywood as well and continues to climb heights.
Medical student Manushi Chhillar became the 67th titleholder of the Miss World crown in 2017. Hailing from Haryana and born to doctor parents, Chhillar had been crowned Femina Miss India earlier.
Reita Faria was crowned Miss India World in 1966 and later went on to clinch the coveted Miss World honor, held at the Lyceum Theatre in London, UK.
Diana Hayden won the Femina Miss India contest in 1997 and was crowned as Miss World 1997 at the age of 24 at Baie Lazare, Seychelles
Yukta Mookhey was crowned Miss World in December 1999 at the Olympia theatre in London at the age of 22.
