An all-rounder in cricketer not only provides the captain with the much-needed balance but can prove to be a serious match winner with both bat and ball. A genuine all-rounder is a player who is counted as a consistent batsman and a specialist bowler. He can earn a place in the team purely due to his potential in batting or bowling. Over the years, the game of cricket has witnessed a plethora of genuine all-rounders, players who have the ability to score hundreds in tough conditions as well as bowl hour after hour, picking up crucial wickets at important junctures of the game.
