Patenga Beach

Patenga is a popular tourist spot. The beach is very close to the Bangladesh Naval Academy of the Bangladesh Navy and Shah Amanat International Airport. Its width is narrow and swimming in the seas is not recommended. Part of the seashore is built-up with concrete walls, and large blocks of stones have been laid to prevent erosion. During the 1990s, a host of restaurants and kiosks sprouted out around the beach area. Lighting of the area has enhanced the security aspect of visiting at night.

Chittagong War Cemetery

This cemetery was established to show the honor for the soldiers and others who died in World War II. The cemetery was created by the British Army, and there were originally about 400 burials. Graves have since been transferred to this cemetery from the Lushai Hills (Assam) and other isolated sites, and from Chittagong Civil Cemetery; Chandragona Baptist Mission Cemetery; Chiringa Military Cemetery; Cox's Bazar New Military and Civil (Muhammadan) Cemeteries; Chittagong (Panchalaish) Burial Ground; Dacca Military Cemetery; Demagiri Cemetery; Dhuapolong Muslim Burial Ground; Dhuapolong Christian Military Cemetery; Dohazari Military and R.A.F. Cemeteries; Jessore Protestant Cemetery; Khulna Cemetery; Khurushkul Island Christian and Muhammadan Cemeteries; Lungleh Cemetery (Assam); Nawapara Cemetery (Assam); Patiya Military Cemetery, Rangamati Cemetery; Tejgaon Roman Catholic Cemetery; Tumru Ghat Military Cemetery and Tumru M.D.S. Hospital Cemetery. There are now 731 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-45 war here, 17 of which are unidentified. There are a further 20 foreign national burials, 1 being a seaman of the Dutch Navy and 19 Japanese soldiers, 1 of which is unidentified. There are also 4 non-war U.K. military burials.

Chittagong Zoo

Chittagong Zoo is a Zoo in Chittagong, Bangladesh.[3] With an area of 6 acres of land, it is located about three kilometers north-east of the city, alongside at the entrance of Foy's lake, opposite the foothills of the mountains of USTC Medical College. In 1988, MA Mannan, former Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong district and some other elites of the city, initially took initiative to establish a private zoo at Foy’s lake for the purpose of recreation, education, and research on zoo animals.[4] It is situated on the hilly land of Foy's lake, South-Khulshi, Chittagong. Later, on February 8, 1989, the zoo was opened for the visitors.[2] Initially, 4.90 acres of land was allocated by the Bangladesh Government, which afterward increased to 6 acres.

Zia Memorial Museum

One of the most remembered war heroes and politicians in the history of Bangladesh is Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman. Born on 19 January 1936, Zia went on to establish the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and became the President of Bangladesh on 21 April 1977. Tragedy struck the country when Ziaur Rahman was assassinated in 1981. In honor of this revered man, the Zia Memorial Museum was established to keep his memory and contributions to Bangladesh alive. The Zia Memorial Museum is more than just a journey through the life of the late President Rahman, it is also a significant architectural piece of history.

Ethnological Museum

The Ethnological Museum of Chittagong (Bengali: জাতিতাত্ত্বিক জাদুঘর) is the only ethnological museum in Bangladesh and is located in Agrabad, Chittagong.[2] The Museum contains displays featuring the history of Bangladesh's tribal people. The Ethnological Museum was established in 1965 and the museum opened to the public in 1974.[1] Two rooms were added to the museum during 1985-1995. In 1996, a gallery with folk articles of Bengali-speaking people was added.

Maritime Museum

Bangladesh Maritime Museum is a museum in a small room at the old seamanship class building in Bangladesh Marine Academy. The US chapter of the Juldia Marine Academy Alumni Association (JMAAA) took the initiative to obtain permission from the Bangladesh government to house the various artifacts inside. These were mostly donated by JMAAA USA.

Bhatiary Golf & Country Club

After the closure of Notunpara Golf Club in 1984, the need for a better Golf Course was felt by the then GOC 24 Infantry Division, Major General Abdul Mannaf, psc, who acted as the protagonist and succeeded in convincing the then President of the country, Lt Gen HM Ershad to develop a Golf Course of international Standard. He took on-board a group of local golf enthusiasts who met several times before formally agreeing, to form the ‘Bhatiary Golf & Country Club’, at a meeting held at Chittagong Club on 15 March 1984. The proposed Club was decided to be built at a scenic area of small hills and valleys at Bhatiary between Chittagong Cantonment and Bangladesh Military Academy.
